I am a huge fan of CrossFit and I’ve been practicing the moves for over a decade. I’ve been to a few open workouts, but I’ve never actually trained at one before. I figured I should start and see what I can accomplish given a little time.
The CrossFit Games is open to anyone, but the general guidelines for workouts are to do 4 sets of 8 exercises for 1 minute, rest 2 minutes, and then repeat the same 4 sets for 1 minute. Ive been to a few open workouts, but the gym isnt open yet. The workouts below are for people who have been practicing for a while.
It’s not a bad workout. The weight we’re lifting is much lighter than I typically lift so the cardio and weight I’m lifting is primarily for cardiovascular reasons. Not that I’m a cardio guy, but I dont think I would have ever lifted so much if I had to sprint for 45 minutes, but I think I should be able to complete the workout.
The workout has been done many times in the past, and is usually over in a few minutes.
I think it is hard to put a lot of weight on the barbell when you are not used to doing it the way it is taught, because it may hurt or you may not be able to hold the dumbells at the same time. Crossfit is a very intense style of cardio, and I think most people who have never done it before will be able to do it just fine, but I think they should have a good idea of where they are going and what they are doing.
